Setting up my garage workshop has been fun. I spent the last summer taking my ordinary garage and creating an inspiring space. Let me take you on my journey.
I like the look of a French cleat wall and the flexibility and ease it provides to rearrange the shop when required.
First, I added studs to the concrete wall.
Then I added ply sheets which will be the base for the French cleat wall that will hold some of my tools.
French cleats consist of a piece of wood that is cut in half at 45° angle.
I attached one half of the cleat to the wall, with the angled edge facing up.
The other half will be attached to my tool holders with the angled edge facing down.
When placed together they interlock and stay safely on the wall.
I added a long shelf on top which can hold some items that I use occasionally.
Finally I made some tool holders.
I added the tool holder to the wall. I love the clean lines.
I think I nailed it, even if I say so!!
Did you notice the maple leaves? I put one on each of my tool holders. Proud Canadian eh?
